FAQs

Is mold dangerous?

In short, yes — mold that grows in your home is dangerous. Exposure to mold spores can cause a range of symptoms like dry cough, runny nose, headache, fever, difficulty breathing, and even neurological problems.

I can’t see mold but I smell it, what do I do?

Just because mold isn’t visible doesn’t mean it’s not there. Mold can be inside of walls, in hard to see places, or painted over. If you suspect mold is in your home or office, schedule an air test to see exactly what’s going on.

Should I clean the mold?

No — if you see mold in your home the best course of action is to cover it with plastic and tape and call a professional remediator. If you clean mold you’re removing the visible stain but causing the mold to spore out and making it hard for a professional to give a full inspection.

Will insurance cover mold?

That depends on your policy and how long you’ve had the problem. Most insurance cover water intrusion, so if your mold grew because of one, you should be covered. The claim has to be submitted no later than 2 weeks after discovering the issue, and cannot be due to neglect.

I had a water intrusion, do I need Mold remediation?

Yes- even if you fixed the leak and had drywall or wood replaced, your home can still be full of mold if remediation was never performed. Remember, mold is airborne and what’s visible is just the tip of the iceberg.

Does dry fogging work?

Yes — the 2 Stage Dry Fog that we use has been independently tested by numerous agencies, including the Army Core of Engineers. There are companies out there that use “dry fogs” that don’t work, but if it’s Pure Maintenece affiliates, you can stand assured that your mold problem will be handled.
